Friday’s Five: When is a rich man poor?

A rich man can be very poor when he is:

Alone

“People who have a lot of money and no time we call ‘rich’. People who have time but no money we call ‘poor’. Yet the most precious gifts–love, friendship, time with loved ones–grow only in the sweet soil of “unproductive” time.” – Unknown

Stingy

“A stingy man is eager to get rich and is unaware that poverty awaits him.” Yiddish Proverb

Selfish

“Selfishness comes from poverty in the heart, from the belief that love is not abundant.” – Don Miguel Ruiz

Ignorant

“Be careful to leave your sons well instructed rather than rich, for the hopes of the instructed are better than the wealth of the ignorant.” –  Epictetus

Arrogant

“It is harder to be poor without murmuring than to be rich without arrogance.” – Confucius
