My mother when asked some of these questions, she usually shrugs and says “I can’t remember”.
- How did you feel when you first got married?
- What was your first year of marriage like?
- How did you feel when you first found out you were pregnant?
- How did you feel when you held me for the first time?
- What was I like as a baby?
- What was I like growing up? Was I naughty? Quiet?
- What was the first word I said?
- What was my favorite book?
- What was my favorite activity?
- Did I grow up to be different than what you thought I’d be?
I think this would make a great family activity for a rainy day. Throw in some popcorn, family albums and write every thing down in a notebook. Think up your own questions and share them with us.

 Contradicting Poverty
A distant cousin of mine took this picture from Azhar Park. Azhar Park was an amazing initiative that transformed a dumping area to a beautiful park in the middle of Cairo where people can spend a great time while also providing the locals with job opportunities. The picture is interesting because of so many things, what do you think? Is a picture really worth a thousand words?

“Envy is the art of counting the other fellow’s blessings instead of your own.” Harold CoffinEnvy may be defined as an emotion that “occurs when a person lacks another’s superior quality, achievement, or possession and either desires it or wishes that the other lacked it.”It can also derive from a sense of low self-esteem that results from an upward social comparison threatening a person’s self image: another person has something that the envier considers to be important to have. If the other person is perceived to be similar to the envier, the aroused envy will be particularly intense, because it signals to the envier that it just as well could have been him or her who had the desired object. Envy is bad.

Lateral thinking is a term coined by Edward de Bono, a Maltese psychologist, physician and writer. It first appeared in the title of his book The Use of Lateral Thinking, published in 1967. De Bono defines lateral thinking as methods of thinking concerned with changing concepts and perception. Lateral thinking is about reasoning that is not immediately obvious and about ideas that may not be obtainable by using only traditional step-by-step logic.
Here’s an example of some lateral thinking puzzles:
Acting on an anonymous phone call, the police raid a house to arrest a suspected murderer. They don’t know what he looks like but they know his name is John and that he is inside the house. The police bust in on a carpenter, a lorry driver, a mechanic and a fireman all playing poker. Without hesitation or communication of any kind, they immediately arrest the fireman. How do they know they’ve got their man?
How could a baby fall out of a twenty-story building onto the ground and live?
Go see the solutions.

I love asking the older people in my family lots of questions but I had never thought of some of these. They would be fun conversation starters and a way to get to know your family better. “If you have a job without aggravations, you don’t have a job.” – Forbes, Malcolm S.
Almost everyone I know right now is dissatisfied from their job. Family, friends and even virtual buddies are all moaning and wishing they could find a better more satisfying job. I totally understand. I came across an interesting article from Psychology Today on how to love your job. Right now, quitting your job might not be an option with looming layoffs and a slow job market because of bad economies in most countries. The next best thing is to learn to enjoy it.
To sum it up you should:
- Review the sweet spots of your day
- Cherish the social support
- Appreciate positive parenting
- Perks count, too
- Finally, foremost, the money
