Handy Reference Cards for Knitters and Crocheters

Check out the latest version here

Every time I come across a pattern that calls for a needle or a hook thats size is not given in metric I have to go ask Google what size that is.  So instead of having to do that every time I decided to make handy reference cards.

The PDF includes 3 cards

  • Needle Size Conversion
  • Hook Size Conversion
  • WIP, gauge and recommended hook or needle size for different yarn category

I also added the WIP card because I buy lots of  yarn that does not clearly state what category yarn it falls into.  It makes my life easier to have a general idea.

Reference Card Knitters Crochet

Now I am thinking I need mini project cards and printable ball bands.

Download the PDF file for the Handy Reference Cards

Print them on card stock, cut them and have them laminated so they can withstand every day wear and tear.

For such a lazy person, I spent a couple of hours making these this mornings.

Is there anything else I am missing?

I don’t think you are missing anything, but the piece of information I look up most often is kitchener. You would think with the vast number of socks I do that I would automatically remember, but I don’t. Maybe I’ll make a cheat card to go in my acessories box.

I was just thinking of making a cheat sheet of techniques and stitches too. I am such a newbie so I keep needing to check things

I second the idea of having one for kitchner stitch! It’s not a difficult technique, but it can be hard to remember how to start it – and I think that’s why a lot of people don’t like it. A reminder card for the knitting bag (or in my case bags) would be great.

I am guessing there are lots of stitches that would be nice to have on a cheat sheet card sized, any other suggestions?

This is FABULOUS. I’m starting a Mom/Kid Knitting and Crochet club this next year at the public library where I work and this might really come in handy.

Thank you so much! I look up this information constantly. As a Canadian, I knit in metric. Maybe some day I’ll memorize the common sizes I use. Or I’ll just keep your chart handy!
