Adding a Zippered Lining to your crochet and knit items

One of the most search terms I get is ‘how to add a zipper to crochet or knit’  I already have a quick and dirty method for that.  I was working on a lacy motif clutch design that had to be lined, so I wrote a tutorial how to make a single layer lining or a double layer (with no visible seams for openwork)

The tutorial is in pdf form which you can download ZipperedLiningTutorial or click the image to get.

Thank you for sharing that. It was exactly what I was looking to do. Now I can add a zipper to a crochet pillow or adapt it to any form of crochet now. Thanks for sharing that.

That’s good as far as it goes but you don’t say or show how you sew the lining into the bag – the difficult part! You just show a picture of it all done. Do you sew it from the front? If so why don’t the stitches show at the back? How did you sew it so the stitches don’t show – you don’t explain.

The PDF was the one I was looking at – there is a picture at the end all done. You explain that you use a strand of the crochet yarn but you don’t say what stitches you use to sew the two together, or where you place them. On the end picture I can’t see any orange stitches, so presumeably the stitches don’t go all the way through. But it is guessing on my part. I know how to do a normal sewn pouch, so it was the bit about attaching it to crochet that I needed.

I just sew it on using a back stitch and since I used the same yarn you can’t see it on the outside and if u look closely you can see the orange stitches inside the lining, maybe I could take some closer pictures to make it clearer

Thank you for explaining – that was very helpful to know. I can just see the orange stitches now I am looking. I can get on and make one now. Thanks very much!

You’re welcome. I’ll be more careful next time when taking pictures to make sure that all the details are nice and clear.

  10. Your main capability and kindness in maneuvering all areas was helpful. I am not sure what I would’ve done if I had not encountered such a solution like this. It’s possible to at this time look forward to my future. Thanks very much for your impressive and sensible guide. I won’t think twice to propose the blog to any individual who should receive guide on this matter.
