Pencil Sleeves

What do you do when you want to knit, but don’t really want to knit?  You make pencil warmers.
Pencil Sleeves
I am definitely not the original owner of this idea, I have seen pictures of this before, but I looked for similar patterns on ravelry and online and couldn’t find one so I thought I should share.

You can use any fingering scrap yarn you have, you really only need a couple of metres.

Size 0 DPNs.  I think you might be able to get away with upto a size 2 just try to knit as tight as possible.

Cast on 12 stitches.  Distribute evenly on 3 needles.  Join and knit in the round until 6 cm long, bind off and weave in ends.

Repeat until you have a rainbow of cute little pencil warmers.

This also works beautifully with varriegated yarns with really short repeats, it looks like stripes.

One word of advice though, this is slightly addictive.  It is a project that takes about 20 minutes from start to finish.

Mwahahahaha! I love it – I saw your thumbnail on Creative spaces and just *had* to click over to see if my eyes were deceiving me! That’s fantastic…it’s like the art supplies have mugged Barbie after jazzercise. I feel the need to make some!

Hilarious, now I feel I need to make it up to Barbie and knit her legwarmers. Sadly I hid my daughter’s barbie because she kept asking me why her dimensions were so strange and she’s only 4. 😀

Is this a good beginner project? I love that it’s so quick as I tend to lose steam on long projects. Any tips if I take this on?
