Lost knitting mojo, found!

I have been having the worst case of knitting enui. Everything dragged on and felt uninspired.  I knit socks and am still working on a scarf. I hate the yarn, hate the pattern and the color is so meh. It felt like knitter’s block. I even picked up an old cross stitch project that I had started months ago, and I still felt unmotivated.

I remembered that I had this yarn and decided that the best way to beat the block was to knit something else. I already have a huge list of “want to knit” projects, so naturally I found a totally new pattern that wasn’t on that list.

Ivy Line is a simple top-down cardigan. The construction is interesting and I have finally joined the body. The lace is easy enough to make it interesting and simple enough to make it enjoyable. I am using Ice Yarn’s Virgin Wool, it is smooth and knits up nicely. It is not a raglan style knit, you knit the yoke first then the back. Then you pick up for the fronts and join. There is a lot of picking up so far and I suspect there will be more to come. I am usually not a fan of picking up stitches. I find it tedious but they have come out looking well.

To be honest, I really needed this. I needed a project that would make knitting enjoyable again. Maybe I am also looking forward to the finished knit itself. I sometimes just knit stuff that I don’t really want to use up yarn in my stash or to just have something to do. I am trying to stop that. To only focus on things I enjoy both as a process and a product.

I am already thinking of my next project. I really want a nice bedspread and a summer tshirt or dress. So I am looking at patterns that I think I might enjoy working on and using too.
