{"id":1151,"date":"2012-03-27T17:16:37","date_gmt":"2012-03-27T14:16:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.chocolatemintsinajar.com\/craft\/?p=1151"},"modified":"2012-05-11T10:04:42","modified_gmt":"2012-05-11T07:04:42","slug":"sploshy-washcloth-free-pattern","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.chocolatemintsinajar.com\/craft\/2012\/03\/sploshy-washcloth-free-pattern\/","title":{"rendered":"Sploshy Washcloth {Free Pattern}"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Sploshy Washcloths by ChocolateMintsInaJar, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/chocolatemintsinajar\/7020630383\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7088\/7020630383_f315e50077_z.jpg\" alt=\"Sploshy Washcloths\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a>Before I learned crocheting or knitting I couldn&#8217;t understand why someone would want to use pretty hand crocheted or hand knit washcloths or dishcloths.\u00a0 It didn&#8217;t make any sense.\u00a0 I could just buy a much cheaper version from the store and I wouldn&#8217;t feel sad when they got dirty or fell apart.<\/p>\n<p>That was of course until I crocheted my own and then knit my own.<\/p>\n<p>First of all knitting or crocheting them is a great way for beginners to learn new stitches and improve their skills without worrying about ruining expensive yarn and they are quick to finish and don&#8217;t use up a lot of yarn.<\/p>\n<p>I like my dishcloths on the smallish side and I like them textured too.\u00a0 It is also best to use 100% cotton because it is really absorbent and hey that is what washcloths need to do right?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The yarn I used is mystery cotton but I am guessing it is light worsted or DK weight.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Materials<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2 stitch markers<\/p>\n<p>Tapestry needles<\/p>\n<p>Size 6 (4mm) needles<\/p>\n<p>A skein of worsted weight ( my 50gm ball made two washcloths and I still had leftover yarn)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pattern<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cast on 35 stitches<\/p>\n<p>Row 1 &#8211; 8 : Knit<\/p>\n<p>Place stitch markers after the 4th stitch and before the last 4 stitches to mark the garter border.<br \/>\nFor all rows knit to the first stitch marker and continue with pattern below, and then knit from the second stitch to the end.<\/p>\n<p>Row 9: Knit<\/p>\n<p>Row 10: *K1,P1*, K1<\/p>\n<p>Row 11: Knit<\/p>\n<p>Row 12: *P1, K1*, P1<\/p>\n<p>Repeat rows 9 &#8211;
