I have been wanting to knit a cardigan for me for ages.\u00a0 The decision was always hard. I knew I wanted a lightweight drapey cardigan, so fingering weight was the way to go.\u00a0 Crazy right? But I love knitting so I shouldn’t be afraid of knitting miles of stockinette right?<\/p>\n

I wanted to knit one of these.<\/p>\n

Top row: Bellevue Cardigan<\/a>, Kaleidoscope<\/a>, Ruby Tuesday<\/a><\/p>\n

Middle Row: Vitamin D<\/a>, Cecily Jacket<\/a>, Harriet<\/a><\/p>\n

Bottom Row: Vanadium<\/a>, Hestia<\/a>, Samargd<\/a><\/p>\n

The only cardigan that was not fingering weight was the Vitamin D pattern and while I still want to knit it in fingering weight I think it needs to be knit in something special for the drape to work properly.<\/p>\n

After a lot of thinking I settled on the Kaleidoscope because it was the simplest one. I also wanted to try out knitting a cardigan from the bottom up.\u00a0 I found a nice beige yarn and cast on.\u00a0 It has simple waist shaping and a wide collar.\u00a0 I will probably make mine a little higher because I don’t like my cardigans falling off my shoulders.\u00a0 I finished the waist decreases and have a couple of inches of plain stockinette to do before the increases.\u00a0 It is very monotonous but I am enjoying the slow pace.\u00a0 I had a couple of naughty knitting episodes before casting this on so I am hoping the relative simplicity of this pattern will cure that.<\/p>\n
