{"id":1783,"date":"2014-01-19T11:47:41","date_gmt":"2014-01-19T08:47:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.chocolatemintsinajar.com\/craft\/?p=1783"},"modified":"2014-01-19T11:47:41","modified_gmt":"2014-01-19T08:47:41","slug":"magnetic-photo-bookmarks-diy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.chocolatemintsinajar.com\/craft\/2014\/01\/magnetic-photo-bookmarks-diy\/","title":{"rendered":"Magnetic Photo Bookmarks {DIY}"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I love reading, but I probably love bookmarks and collecting them just as much. \u00a0Apparently my little girl loves these things too. \u00a0She is almost 6 now but she will always grab my books, pretend to read them and then take my bookmark. \u00a0And I don&#8217;t like losing my place in a book.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/chocolatemintsinajar\/12026156084\/player\/f1f74da80d\" height=\"333\" width=\"500\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>After a little bit of googling I found printable magnetic bookmarks on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theprettyblog.com\/style-and-home\/heart-it-bookmarks-free-printable-2\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Pretty Blog<\/a> and made some for myself. \u00a0If you know me or if you have been following long enough you will know that I just can&#8217;t leave things alone. For example I just can not follow a recipe, I need to add something else or take away something that should be in there. \u00a0So, naturally I felt that I could make some of my own using some of my favorite photographs from my <a href=\"http:\/\/instagram.com\/jessyzz\/\" target=\"_blank\">Instagram<\/a> account. \u00a0It made sense to use instagram because the pictures were already squared.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You can make your own, it just takes a little photo editing. \u00a0Or you can download the one I made.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chocolatemintsinajar.com\/craft\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Magnetic-Photo-Bookmarks.pdf\">Magnetic Photo Bookmarks<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chocolatemintsinajar.com\/craft\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Magnetic-Photo-Bookmarks.pdf\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1787\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2014-01-19 at 11.05.41 AM\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chocolatemintsinajar.com\/craft\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Screen-Shot-2014-01-19-at-11.05.41-AM-300x211.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"211\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chocolatemintsinajar.com\/craft\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Screen-Shot-2014-01-19-at-11.05.41-AM-300x211.png 300w, https:\/\/www.chocolatemintsinajar.com\/craft\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Screen-Shot-2014-01-19-at-11.05.41-AM-150x105.png 150w, https:\/\/www.chocolatemintsinajar.com\/craft\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Screen-Shot-2014-01-19-at-11.05.41-AM-400x282.png 400w, https:\/\/www.chocolatemintsinajar.com\/craft\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Screen-Shot-2014-01-19-at-11.05.41-AM.png 888w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t have a specific tutorial because it will all depend on what software you will be using, but here are the basics:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chocolatemintsinajar.com\/craft\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Magnet-Photo-Bookmarks.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1784\" alt=\"Magnet Photo Bookmarks\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chocolatemintsinajar.com\/craft\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Magnet-Photo-Bookmarks-1024x768.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chocolatemintsinajar.com\/craft\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Magnet-Photo-Bookmarks-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.chocolatemintsinajar.com\/craft\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Magnet-Photo-Bookmarks-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.chocolatemintsinajar.com\/craft\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Magnet-Photo-Bookmarks-150x112.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.chocolatemintsinajar.com\/craft\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Magnet-Photo-Bookmarks-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Resize your images (square them first if they aren&#8217;t square) to 4.5 &#8211; 5 cm, I found that this is a good size.<\/li>\n<li>Round the edges of the image. I use pixelmator and you select the image, then select Refine Selection.<\/li>\n<li>Copy the image and paste another copy of it on the top edge of the image.<\/li>\n<li>Flip it vertically<\/li>\n<li>Now move it in an empty place so you can add more.<\/li>\n<li>Keep going until you have all the bookmarks you want\/need (not like a girl could ever have enough bookmarks)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Once you have your file ready print it on heavy cardstock<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/chocolatemintsinajar\/12026039653\/player\/787723a78e\" height=\"333\" width=\"500\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Cover it using clear plastic contact paper. You don&#8217;t have to, but this makes them more durable.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/chocolatemintsinajar\/12026597286\/player\/bc1235dc3f\" height=\"333\" width=\"500\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Cut each one out, making sure you cut the round corners at the top as carefully as you can. Fold along the center where the two images meet.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/chocolatemintsinajar\/12025766245\/player\/d79486bb75\" height=\"333\" width=\"500\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Glue a magnet on each side. I have these really thin, flat, square, self adhesive magnets that I find at my local stationery store.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/chocolatemintsinajar\/12026146524\/player\/218678abf6\" height=\"333\" width=\"500\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Keep going until you have wonderful bookmarks that won&#8217;t fall out of your book.
